Today, an average bottle of Latour is around 300 times more expensive than a bottle of basic Bordeaux. Latour, arguably Bordeaux's most consistent First Growth, is located in southern Pauillac next to St Julien. Its soil is gravel-rich with superb drainage, and Latour's vines penetrate as far as five metres into the soil.

The estate takes its name from the original Saint-Lambert tower placed close to the chateau that was created in the second half of the 14th century.
